The School of Control Science and Engineering (CSE) of Shandong University is located on Qianfoshan campus in Jinan City. This campus is surrounded with many beautiful types of scenery like Qianfo Mountain to the south, Baotu Spring to the west, and Black Tiger Spring and Daming Lake to the north. School of CSE is one of the initiative faculties of engineering at Shandong University. It can trace back to the Department of Electrical Engineering (EE) of Shandong University of Technology, which was established in 1949. The Electrical Engineering Speciality of Shandong University, established in 1946, incorporated into EE in 1952. In 1989, EE had changed its name as Automation Engineering (AE). After the merger of Shandong University with Shandong Medical University and Shandong University of Technology, the department of AE had changed its name as School of Control Science and Engineering.

Since 1949, CSE has been developing by leaps and bounds, and formed the school culture “Pristine and Industrious, Steady and Outstanding”. The educational quality and competitiveness of CSE have been remarkably improved. This improvement in the quality and capability of teaching and research has greatly increased and has been the pioneer of higher education specialty construction and reform in China. The discipline of control science and engineering was assessed as A- in the fourth round of disciplinary assessment with ranking in top 10 in China, and was leading ahead of other engineering disciplines in Shandong University. Particularly in 2018, CSE had been ranked as 38^thin the world and 8^thin China for the ranking of world-class universities in Soft Science. The discipline of Biomedical Engineering benefits from the cross-integration with the CSE discipline and develops rapidly.The school of CSE dedicates to forge forward the grand goal of "making the discipline of control science and engineering bigger and stronger, and making the discipline of biomedical engineering more specialized and skilled".
