EDUCATIONAL PLAN for BACHELOR (Science and Engineering Combined Test Class for Automation)

PART ONE. Major Introduction

Automation is the science and technology of automatic, intelligent, autonomous, efficient and safe operation of machines, equipment, systems, or production and management processes, which is also one of the most important symbols of modern civilization. Automation Science and technology is one of the most important, fastest growing, most widely used and most effective technologies in the world, which plays an irreplaceable important role in national economic and social development and national defense construction. Automation Science and technology has been widely applied in many fields of industry, agriculture, transportation, commerce, defense and society. Automation system has become the core and soul of advanced manufacturing, energy system, process industry, manned spacecraft, high-speed railway, intelligent robots, intelligent transportation, military equipment and other complex engineering systems. The automation specialty belongs to the engineering subject, which is based on information theory, cybernetics and system theory, and mainly studies the principle and technology of automatic control and its application to various control objects. It plays a vital role in promoting industrialization and promoting the integration of the two industries.

The major of automation at School of Control Science and Engineering was built in 1959. After more than half a century of development, it has been accredited as a national specialty, and the first brand majors in Shandong Province. It has a national key discipline of “control theory and control engineering”, and the Shandong Province key discipline of “power electronics and power transmission”. It has the “Engineering Research Center of Power Electronic Energy-saving Technology & Equipment, Ministry of Education”, and two key laboratories of Shandong Province, “Engineering System Control” and “Renewable Energy and Power Electronic Energy Saving Technology”. It has the post-doctoral mobile workstation of control science and engineering. It has the doctor and master's degree authorizations on control theory and control engineering, systems engineering, pattern recognition and intelligent systems, power electronics and electrical drives. It also has the authority to confer master of engineering in control engineering, and the right to confer master's degree in control theory and control engineering education. A complete personnel training system has been established.

PART TWO. Cultivation Objective

The objective is to cultivate the students with a high sense of social responsibility, scientific and cultural excellence, with strong theoretical foundation, broad professional knowledge and strong practical ability, full of modern scientific innovation consciousness and broad international vision, so that they can become composite automation engineering scientific talent in areas such as scientific research, technology development, education and management, and process in industrial enterprises, universities and scientific research departments of defense, control, motion control, energy system, modern integrated manufacturing systems, navigation guidance and control, intelligent control, pattern recognition and artificial intelligence and robotics, systems engineering, modern testing technology, signal processing and control, network and computer application.

PART THREE. GRADUATIONAL GOALS

The training model of Science and Engineering Combined Test Class for Automation is different from the Mathematics Specialty and the traditional Automation Specialty. The requirement is to cultivate science and engineering compound talents with engineering background and deep theoretical basis, who adhere to the concept "go theory from engineering, go engineering from theory", and to achieve the successful combination of theory and practice. Specific requirements are as follows:

Knowledge: to cultivate knowledge of cutting edge topics in contemporary society and technology from the perspective of automation professionals, and the knowledge structure has both breadth and depth of leadership in composited science and engineering.

Quality: the fusion of sinology accomplishment, entrepreneurship management, art aesthetic, humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, humanistic quality of engineering technology, scientific and engineering qualities, and understanding of the automation of the occupation responsibility and occupation moral.

Ability: to develop students' five major capabilities including independent learning, innovative thinking, international communication, teamwork, and organization and execution. Specific include: the use of mathematics, science and engineering knowledge; the design and implementation of the experiment and the data analysis and interpretation; design of automatic system, equipment or process considering the economic, environmental and social, political, moral, health, safety, easy processing, sustainability under practical constraints; the ability from the perspective of different disciplines in the team; put forward and solve the problem of automation engineering; effective communication ability; recognizing the need for lifelong learning and be qualified for lifelong learning; comprehensive using of technology, skills and modern engineering tools for automation engineering practice.

Vision: with sufficient knowledge, social responsibility and international competence, able to understand automation engineering solutions in the global, economic, environmental and social background, and become a leading talent.

PART FOUR. CORE COURSES

The core compulsory courses of this major are: Mathematical Analysis、Advanced Algebra、Probability and Statistics、Functions of Complex Variables and Equations of Mathematical Physics、College Physics、Automatic Control Theory I、Automatic Control Theory II、Analog Electronic Technology、Digital Electronic Technology、Principle and Interface Technology of Microcomputer、Computer Control Technology、Signal Analysis and Processing、Automatic Measuring Technology、Electric Machinery and Electric Drives、Power Electronic Technology、Motion Control Systems、Process Control System、Electric Power System Basics, etc.

PART FIVE. MAIN PRACTICE SESSIONS (including professional laboratory training)

The main practice sessions and professional laboratory training of this majors are:

(1) Main Professional Laboratory Training

The main professional courses of laboratory trainings include: Automatic Control Theory I, Automatic Control Theory II, Analog Electronic Technology, Digital Electronic Technology, Principle and Interface Technology of Microcomputer, Computer Control Technology, Signal Analysis and Processing, Automatic Measuring Technology, Electric Machinery and Electric Drives, Power Electronic Technology, Motion Control Systems, Process Control System, Electric Power System Basics, etc.

(2) Practical Teaching

The practical teaching subjects include: Martial Training, Engineering Training(Metalworking Experience), Martial Training(Electrical & Electronics Experience), Science and Technology Practice for Automation, Course Exercise in Electronic Technology, Design Practice of Single Chip Microcomputer Application System, Comprehensive Course Exercise of Process Control System, Comprehensive Course Exercise of Motion Control System, Graduation Practice, Senior Thesis, etc.

In order to improve the science and technology innovation capacity of the students, all students are encouraged to take part in the comprehensive science and technology competitions by the organization and guidance of the professional teachers or corporate senior technical staff. Such as the national collegiate mathematic modeling contest, the national collegiate robotic contest, the national collegiate intelligence car race, the B&R automation contest, etc. Besides, students are guided and encouraged to carry out scientific and technological research and training, and publish the academic papers and patents.
