On May 10th, Professor Tamer Başar, who is the international famous cybernetician, member of the United States National Academy of Engineering, member of the European Academy of Sciences, dean of Engineering College of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, was confered the Honorary Professor of Shandong University at the central campus. Professor Fan liming, who is the president of Shandong University, issued a letter of appointment and delivered a speech.

At the ceremony, President Fan welcomed Tamer Başar to join.She introduced the history and current situation of the development of Shandong University, and introduced the university in talent cultivation, discipline construction, international exchanges and cooperation's achievements in recent years, especially the cooperation progress with Yale University, University of Cambridge, Nanyang Technological University, National University of Singapore, the Helmholtz Association of National Research Center of Germany and other international well-known universities and research institutions. She believes Control School could get more social resources and government support with professor Tamer Başar cooperation, which will significantly inprove the academic prestige and international reputation of Shandong University.

Professor Tamer Başar introduced his cooperation with many universities in China in the aspects of scientific research, students’ cultivation.Tamer Başar said, Shandong University, which is located in the hometown of great educator Confucius, impressed him a lot on the talent training quality and level of discipline development. And he is willing to promote to strengthen substantial cooperation, and make contributions to build first-class control subjects actively.

After the ceremony, professor Tamer Başar gave an academic speech entitled "Strategic Information Transmission and a found of Deception" During the speech, Tamer Başar pointed out that due to the interaction of the future, the design of the strategy of the transparency of the signal will still be a huge challenge.

Representatives of outstanding scholars from the School of Control Science and Engineering and International Affairs Department Officers participated in relevant activities.

Professor BRIAN D.O.
