Yungang Liu received his Ph.D. degree in Control Theory and Control Engineering from Shanghai Jiaotong University, Shanghai, China, in 2000. During 2001-2003, he had been a postdoctoral researcher in the Academy of mathematics and Systems Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He in April 2003 joined Shandong University, China, as a professor and a doctoral supervisor, and now is a Changjiang Scholars Chair Professor with the School of Control Science and Engineering at the same university.

His current research interests include stochastic control, nonlinear and adaptive control, power systems and robotic systems, and optimization and scheduling. He has published over 200 papers in various international journals and conferences. He is/was an Associate Editor for eight scientific journals.

Dr. Liu was a recipient of the Guan Zhaozhi Award in 2004, the National Outstanding Youth Science Foundation of China in 2013, and the Second Prize of National Natural Science Award of China in 2015.
